There are various
kinds of symptoms one should look for before the actual damage is displayed be the
machine. Some small indications are messages, music and graphical displays.
The main indications could be any or most of the following:
- Changes in file sizes and contents

- Reassignment of system resources.

- Unaccounted use of RAM/ reduction in amount of RAM reported
by the machine
|

- Strange behavior from the hardware
|
- Unexpected changes in the memory map or configuration as
soon as you start the computer.

- Getting messages at Windows startup that 32-bit Disk Access
cannot be used
|
The only foolproof way to determine the presence of a
virus is for an expert to analyse the assembly code contained in all programs and system
areas, but this is not normally possible.
Virus scanners can perform this analysis by looking in that code for known viruses.
The ideal option is to have the latest anti-virus software and to pay close attention to
your system. |
